Hobit Lafaye, Shooting Water Studio

December, 2015

Hobit Lafaye has been a photographer for over 20 years, specializing in fine art photography inspired by the “sublime landscapes” found in upstate New York. She became a full time professional when she established Shooting Water Studio in February, 2015.

Lafaye says her work invites the viewer to “savor the ephemeral beauty of the natural world and to expand their awareness and appreciation of what often goes unnoticed.” In addition to her existing stock, custom shoots meet the client’s specific needs. She adds, “I offer exceptional quality prints that contribute to the atmosphere of the home, office, digital media and printed materials.”

In the coming year, Lafaye plans to produce a book that inspired her company’s name. The book will feature photographs of both popular and perhaps less well known waterfalls in the Ithaca area, along with the stories behind the shots, and a field guide to their locations. Lafaye also hopes to become a resource for interior designers and architects in the area, to have her work displayed in one of the new hotels being built, and to set up a printmaking studio and darkroom for creating original silver prints and alternative processes from digital negatives.

Shooting Water Studio is currently offering a 30% discount on in-stock 16×20 and 20×30 archival giclee canvas prints.
