Mary Beth Bowers Bunge is the principal and force behind MB3, a new Ithaca consulting business offering training in philanthropy, fundraising, and communications; retreat and meeting facilitation, and strategic planning and related services, primarily for non-profits.
Jokingly calling herself a “reluctant fundraiser,” Bunge is a regular presenter with Ithaca College and the Human Services Coalition of Tompkins County. Her workshops, ‘How to Ask for a LOT of MONEY!’ and ‘Fundraising in the Performing Arts,’ have helped non-profit leaders to raise millions of dollars. MB3’strainings are fast-paced, hands-on, interactive, and goal-oriented. “As a facilitator and trainer, I am committed to working with my clients to strengthen their skills while building their team to serve their organizational mission,” she says.
Bunge is a member of the Ithaca Rotary Club and Association of Fundraising Professionals-Finger Lakes Region. Her eclectic education — a B.A. in English/Theatre, an M.S. in Textiles & Clothing, and a Master of Library Science — has been followed by thirty years of non-profit experience, including ten years as a successful fundraiser with the Hangar Theatre, and Alternatives Impact, the 501c3 affiliate of Alternatives Federal Credit Union in Ithaca. She has served as a professional in public relations, grants management and/or administration for the Cayuga Nature Center, Light in Winter Festival, Discovery Trail, and Cornell University departments.
“Fundraising and planning are skills that we all can and need to develop to create change in the world,” says Bunge. Potential clients may take advantage of a free initial review of organizational needs.
