Kathy Nivison founded the Ithaca location of Express Employment Professionals, a national franchise, in 2013. After more than 20 years in Human Resources for major employers in Ithaca she left corporate America to open a staffing firm focused on professional placement. Since its founding the firm has grown significantly, employing hundreds in manufacturing, finance, education, retail, and hospitality around Ithaca and Cortland.
“We don’t use the phrase ‘temp agency’ here… it diminishes the industry,” explains Kathy. Rather, Express Employment Professionals focuses on professional placement. Many of their employees are skilled marketing, HR, accounting, and IT professionals. While temporary placement is offered, many of their clients are seeking temp-to-hire or direct-hire support.
