On June 17, this webinar in our series focused on providing information for employers and employees on Unemployment Insurance Support.

Mary McLaughlin, Workforce Development Specialist with Tompkins Workforce New York provided an overview of Unemployment Insurance and Pandemic Unemployment Assistance under the CARES Act. Topics of discussion included:

UI – How to apply – See screenshots of the new UI / PUA application process and learn what documents and information affected employees will need to know to apply.

UI Help (FAQs and Tips) – Review NYS DOL’s current FAQs, as well as tips TWFNY staff have put together that will make the process easier to navigate and complete successfully. In addition, we will cover information about the current length of UI benefits, accessing the additional $600/wk (PUC), partial UI, temporary vs permanent layoffs, and Shared Work.

Moving Forward – Discuss current services available through TWNFY including virtual workshops, free online training resources, and the Tompkins ReDirect and NYS DOL job search sites for essential employment opportunities.

The format of the webinar was a 45 minute presentation of information followed by a 15 minute Q&A.
