The Ithaca & Tompkins County Convention & Visitors Bureau, a divisionof the Tompkins County Chamber of Commerce has immediate volunteer opportunities available to help with the production of the Winter Recess Teacher Festival. This festival celebrates public educators, support staff and administrators. This is a great opportunity for individuals or groups with a special interest in celebrating public educators. Individuals or groups welcome. Individuals, School groups, Parent-Teacher Associations, Girl Scouts, Clubs, Boy Scouts, sororities, fraternities, etc. welcome!
Volunteer Opportunities available are:
Postcard Mailings to School Districts:
Some tasks for this include counting out postcards in packs of 50 & 100, attaching Avery mailing labels to envelopes, inserting packs of postcards in to envelopes, and sealing envelopes
Dates Available: Friday, January 26th, Saturday, January 27th and as needed Monday, January 28th.
Stuffing VIT Passes in to Laminate Sleeves
Very Important Teacher (VIT) are the passes we give to teachers as they register for the festival. Volunteers will be stuffing these VIT passes in to laminate sleeves. Repetitive movement with fingers and hands is required for this activity.
Dates available: Monday, January 28th through Saturday, February 2nd.
Stuffing Swag Bags
Teachers receive swag bags filled with local goodies and information. Volunteers will be helping to donated material in to swag bags.
Dates available: Tuesday, February 6th to Wednesday, February 14th.
Volunteer assignments are available during our hours of operation from 9am-5pm Monday through Saturday and from 10am-5pm on Saturday. Regardless if you can volunteer one hour or up to eight hours, one day or multiple days, we would be grateful for your help!
