Interested in becoming a Chamber Ambassador?

Ambassadors are some of the most visible Tompkins Chamber members and have the opportunity to increase their network as well as their leadership skills through the program!

Purpose

Chamber Ambassadors are highly visible, prestigious volunteers who serve as an important liaison to new and current Tompkins Chamber members. Ambassadors actively promote membership in the Tompkins Chamber, facilitate networking among members, and encourage meaningful participation and involvement in Chamber programs and events in order to enhance the membership benefits received by each member, strengthen member commitment, and increase long-term member retention.

Benefits

  • High-visibility networking
  • Learn more about programs, events, and issues which affect the Chamber and your community
  • Form close ties with other committee members
  • Create relationships while serving the business and nonprofit communities
  • Hone your networking skills through Ambassador trainings and workshops
  • Discounted or free tickets to Chamber events

Qualifications

Ambassadors are individuals who know the Tompkins Chamber well and can help educate new and existing members about the benefits of membership and involvement.

  • One full year of Chamber membership
  • Membership must be in good standing
  • Attendance at one Chamber 101 session within the last year
  • Ability to serve for a 12-month term

Duties

Ambassadors can expect to spend 3-5 hours per month on their Ambassador duties.

Ambassadors participate in one of three sub-committees, each with a unique set of tasks to support our Membership, Marketing, and Event program areas.

Networking Ambassadors:

  • Attend in-person events to network with new and potential members.
  • Attend Chamber member ribbon cuttings and grand openings.
  • Assist the Member Relationship Manager with recruiting new member businesses.

Social Ambassadors:

  • Encourage others to attend events with personal invitations.

Event Committee:

  • Volunteer at our annual events and assist with event support (as a greeter, table host, etc). This includes the Annual Golf Tournament, Annual Dinner, Great BIG Chamber Auction, or Economic Summit.

Mission

To support an inclusive environment for all Chamber members and enhance member participation and retention.
